Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, You can find it now for $22 in the MAC permanent line, hoping to change lives one sweep at a time. I hope you give Layin’ Low a chance one of these days, because I think it’s a totally underrated everyday workhorse. I’ll just do quick, little sweeping motions and make tight circles to buff the layers down as thin as humanly possible, which is something I learned from a MAC makeup artist, and it changed my worldview on the MAC Paint Pots, LOL! Before that I’d always press them into my skin with my fingers, and they’d look heavy and dry on my lids. If you’re one of those gals or guys for whom the MAC Paint Pots look thick and heavy on your lids, try applying a very thin layer of Layin’ Low with a domed eyeshadow brush like the MAC 217. A swatch of MAC Layin’ Low on my NC42 skin I’ll buff it on my lids from lash line to brow bone with a MAC 217, then sweep Soft Brown into the crease, then Saddle or Texture slightly lower into the crease, Swiss Chocolate on my lids and a black liner (usually Smolder) on my lash and water lines. It’s also a superstar eyeshadow base for warm orangey brown or reddish brown smoky eyes. It lasts all day and doesn’t even need primer! MAC Layin’ Low as a base (you can see it on my lids and brow bones), with MAC Soft Brown, Saddle and Swiss Chocolate in the crease and MAC Smolder Eye Kohl on my lash lines For fast looks, I’ll wear it as a standalone shadow, just popping it right on my lids, diffusing it into the crease and smudging Costa Riche on my lash and water lines before adding mascara and a bold plum, wine or berry lip. I’m a MAC NC42, and Layin’ Low is in my category of everyday staples. I love these Paint Pots.A quick daytime look with Layin’ Low on my lids and MAC Costa Riche Eye Kohl on my lash lines the lipstick is bareMinerals Lead the Way MAC Paint Pots don’t dry out, at least mine that are a year old are still super creamy. It has a long wand with more teeth concentrated at the top, and it looks promising. So I haven’t worn it yet, but as soon as I feel better, I will be dying to try this new for me shade as well as the sample mascara that I got: MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash. Right now, I’m still not feeling that great, and I’m Layin’ Low. And when I compared the two shades, they are definitely different enough. When I first opened Layin’ Low, I wondered if it was different enough from Painterly. Definitely a shade that will suit me with my red hair. When it arrived, it looked less like “creamy beige” and more like browned peach like the swatch I saw online. I chose Layin’ Low, described as “creamy beige”. Now, MAC offers 7 shades, a mix of mattes, pearls and shimmers. So when MAC decided to throw in free shipping, I ordered online and took a chance on the shade I chose. The sales associate told me that they weren’t allowed to offer the discount. I had planned to go to Macy’s to look at the actual shades of Paint Pots, but I called first to see if they had them in stock. So I better keep buying them if I want them to remain around. Maybe I’m one of the few who loves cream shadows. In fact, I wish I had known they were on sale for $13 on Nordstrom Rack where they’re now just about sold out except for black and brown. Recently I noticed that MAC decreased the number of Paint Pots shades rather substantially, boo. I also bought Antique Diamond, a sparkly silver grey shade. Originally, I bought Painterly, the pale pink nude cream shadow reviewed here, that makes a wonderful base or a nice everyday shade to wear on its own. Time for me to add to my collection of Paint Pots. The Paint Pots are creamy, highly pigmented, long wearing, easy to apply and blend cream shadows that are perfect for my dry lids. MAC had a 20% off sale after Memorial Day for their Select members (all you have to do is sign up, no purchase requirements), and when they added in free shipping, bingo.
